Mr. Timbers creates value for his clients and community by helping them safely and effectively manage risk, guiding them to identify, assess, eliminate, mitigate, or reduce uncertainty in achieving their goals and objectives. With over 30 years of industrial experience in project and personnel management, as well as Six Sigma activities and training, he works with key stakeholders to optimize risk in ways that improve performance and increase net revenue. He has also successfully started up and managed a high-technology company servicing the North American petrochemical industry from Houston, Texas, and Sarnia, Ontario.

Guillermo Pacanins

With over 30 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, Mr. Guillermo Pacanins specializes in Process Controls and Functional Safety within the process industry. He's taught Process Automation courses to some of the world's largest companies, thanks to his excellent communication and leadership skills, combined with his in-depth understanding of Process Safety Engineering. Mr. Pacanins is also a TUV Functional Safety Expert who leads functional safety workshops worldwide for Risk Alive®. As an accredited facilitator of the "Lessons from Longford" and "Creating a Mindful Organization" workshops, he's a successful functional safety analyst and educator. Additionally, Mr. Pacanins holds a Process Safety Practice Certificate from Texas A&M University's Mary Kay O'Connor Center for Process Safety.

German’s enthusiasm for process safety is complemented by exceptional interpersonal and public speaking skills, a passion for education, attention to detail, and over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including more than a decade in Process Safety Management (PSM). As an experienced facilitator, he has conducted over 500 Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) studies—such as Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Hazard Identification (HAZID), and What-If Analysis—for manufacturing companies across Canada, the United States, and Germany. In addition, German is a highly effective training instructor and course developer, teaching P&ID/Engineering Drawings Interpretation, PHA/HAZOP Facilitation, Fundamentals of Risk-Based Process Safety Management, and other PSM and oil refining courses, consistently earning excellent reviews for his in-depth knowledge and ability to connect theory with real-world examples.

Rob Michalowicz

Mr. Michalowicz is a professional engineer with 40 years of experience in the following engineering roles: plant process engineer, design & development process engineer, and process safety engineer. Thirty of those 40 years of experience were devoted to the field of process safety as a process safety engineer and as a manager of process safety. Rob has worked in process safety engineering for an operating chemical company (14 years) and as a consultant (16 years) and has experience with many different techniques of hazard identification and risk assessment and all of the elements of process safety management.

Bryce is passionate about Operational and Process Safety, bringing together exceptional interpersonal and public speaking skills, attention to detail, and over 40 years of experience with a wide variety of processing systems. As an experienced facilitator, he has led more than 3,000 Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) studies—including Hazard and Operability (HAZOP), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Hazard Identification (HAZID), What-If Analysis, and Safety Instrumented Levels (SIL)—for a broad range of operating and engineering organizations in Canada, the United States, and internationally. His extensive field experience spans oilsands, petrochemicals, conventional and unconventional oil and gas facilities, nuclear, mining, public utilities, and infrastructure projects.

Fred Cowen
B.A.Sc., M.Eng., P.Eng., PMP, EMBA., TÜV (Rheinland) Functional Safety Engineer / Trainer
Fred is a P. Eng. with over 28 years experience in Instrumentation and Controls, Process, and Mechanical design. He has over 18 years experience delivering over 200 industrial combustion projects in the oil and gas, cement, steel, gypsum, materials, and food industries and has done extensive research in biofuel combustion. In 2016, Fred started up FCowen Engineering Inc. which is an industrial combustion company providing industrial burner and valve train design, emissions and safety testing, maintenance, on site and remote training, as well as functional safety lifecycle services to global clients.
When Fred is not working, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and 4 kids that he is very thankful to have.
Fred provides TÜV approved and other training workshops for ACM, and is a certified TÜV Functional Safety Engineer and Trainer.
