Distribution Terminal HAZOP B

Cause analysis 2

An unopened truck vent can cause truck overpressure and lead to consequences such as:

◼️Spillage on pad leading to the formation of vapor cloud creating a pool fire.
◼️Damage with one compartment of the truck released resulting in a fire and personnel injury when product is flammable.

What are actionable safeguards critical to guarding against this scenario?

🛡️Truck has a spring loaded vent that automatically opens
🛡️Emergency pressure relief valve on each compartment
🛡️Pail/Drain procedure demands to open the vent valve to empty the compartment
🛡️Supervised loading. The driver will activate 'ESD', which will close the flow valve and arm MOV and stop the pump.
